
Sri Lanka women’s national cricket team secured a 2-0 lead in the ODI series with a narrow 14-run win against West Indies women’s national cricket team in the second ODI on Sunday.
Batting first, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 208 in 47.1 overs. Vishmi Gunaratne top-scored with 58, anchoring the innings after the team was well placed at 166/4 before suffering a late collapse. Harshitha Samarawickrama contributed 35, while Karishma Ramharack claimed three wickets for West Indies.
In reply, West Indies struggled early as their top order collapsed inside 100. Jannillea Glasgow scored a fighting 50 from the lower order to keep the chase alive.
The turning point of the match came with the dismissal of Deandra Dottin, who was given out for obstructing the field after making contact with the ball following a missed sweep shot. The decision shifted momentum in Sri Lankaβs favour.
Sri Lankaβs spin attack proved decisive in the closing stages, with Sugandika Kumari and Inoka Ranaweera picking up three wickets each to restrict West Indies to 194 in 48 overs.
With this win, Sri Lanka claimed their second consecutive bilateral ODI series victory over West Indies.
